This Is What Happens When Lightning Strikes The Ocean

In June 2015, Clint Blevins’ camera captured a magical footage of lightning strikes in the Florida Daytona Beach.  The slow motion video captures the lightning strike from a distance and followed by rapidly closer strikes that flare severally before leaving a streak of burning air.

What causes the flaring? The flaring is a succession of 30-30 secondary strikes. Extremely high temperatures, hotter than the sun’s surface, and over one billion electricity bolts, the danger posed by the lightning are severe. Statistics show that lightning strikes 1 out of 3000 people in the United States.

Florida is the “lightning capital” of the US with a high number of lightning deaths reported in 2014 and 2015. Il have to be carefull while out on my morning run!

With the lightning scare aside; watch the stunning footage.
