We take a look back in time at some of the great fights. This week we take a look at a great match up between a 37 year old 'Sugar' Shane Mosley and big betting favourite 30 year old Antonio Margarito. While already a tasty looking match up there was added spice to this one. Margarito who in his previous fight had battered to a halt the previously unbeaten Miguel Cotto, was found to have a white pasty substance covering his wraps. The wraps were removed and placed in a box to be later examined and confirmed to be a substance simular to plaster of paris, which is used to make casts for broken bones.
Margarito was big favourite was going into the fight, i have taken a extract from a website to show the odds for the fight:
"Can Mosley pull out a victory in this fight? The experts and Las Vegas Odds Makers do not seem to think so.
Antonio Margarito is currently listed as a -500 favorite, while "Sugar" Shane Mosley is a +350 underdog.
This means that you would have to wager $500 on Margarito in order to win $100 back, while a successful $100 wager on Mosley would net you a profit of $350."
As a big Mosley fan who i rate amongst the greatest lightweights of all time, the odds and the events leading up to this fight made it all the more sweeter to watch. Mosley put on a master class of hard hitting counter punching and rolled back the years to dethrone the tough Antonio Margarito.
